For alto saxophone in M strength, the Forestone Black Bamboo reed is made from polypropylene resin and cellulose wood fiber, with bamboo accounting for more than half of that fiber. Injection molding gives it a smooth vamp intended to be consistent between reeds, while the profile is balanced across its width and length. It can be repositioned on the mouthpiece table to alter resistance, or adjusted with reed-working tools. The composite material resists moisture-related breakdown and changes in humidity or altitude.
