Golden Age’s COMP-2A is a single-channel, vintage-style compressor/leveler built around a tube signal path and tube side-chain path. Transformer-balanced input and output use separate transformers, each selected for its role. Its gain-control circuit combines an electro-luminescent panel with a photoelectric cell, producing program-dependent compression rather than a fixed response. With only two main controls, it keeps the operating approach direct while bringing tube and transformer character into the signal path.
