The black 16-inch Remo External Sub Muff’l is a bass-drum dampening system that sits outside the head rather than using a glued-on profile. Its free-floating plastic profile and slip-resistant foam inserts are made for bass drum heads that do not already have external dampening. The arrangement keeps the head in contact with the bearing edge while adding subsonic lows and attack, without the frequency manipulation associated with glued-on dampening profiles.
