Sized at 14 x 6.5 inches, the SONOR SQ1 is a birch-shell snare developed as part of the SQ1 series. SONOR selected a pure birch shell after testing different shell constructions; the material is described as having pronounced high frequencies and clearly defined low end. The drum uses a 7-ply, 7 mm shell with triple-flange hoops, steel carbon snares, and a dual throw-off. Its Satin Pure White lacquer finish gives the instrument a clean, direct visual identity.
