Sony’s C-100 is an analog studio microphone built around a dual-element capsule combining condenser and electret condenser designs. Its 20 Hz–50 kHz response is paired with three selectable polar patterns—cardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8—so a session can use different microphone approaches without changing microphones. A high-pass filter addresses unwanted low frequencies, while the 10 dB pad adds headroom for transient peaks. The XLR-equipped C-100 is positioned for high-resolution recording across vocal and other sound sources.
