Audio-Technica’s AT4033a is a cardioid, side-address condenser microphone aimed at recording work, including acoustic instruments and singer/songwriter performances. Its transformerless circuitry is described as low-noise, with quick transient response and clean output. The microphone has a pronounced presence character, while its switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter lets you move from a flat response to low-end roll-off for closely miked vocals where ambient noise and popping need attention. An AT8449a shock mount is included for isolation.
