Schilke’s A1 Long Model Series is a Bb cornet built for concert-band and orchestral settings where added projection is needed. Its long-model body and Shepherd’s Crook are paired with a .460-inch medium-large bore and a 5-inch yellow-brass bell with a 1 taper and large throat. Schilke describes that combination as delivering a more focused sound with maximum projection. The lacquer version uses a yellow-brass leadpipe, three Monel piston valves, a first-slide thumb saddle, and fixed third-slide ring.
